Repainting The Blue Line
IGA Parking Lot, Toccoa/ Ocoee Streets, Copperhill/McCaysville
The TriCities unique location along the state line between Georgia & Tennessee gives rise to
one of our favorite tourist attractions ... The Blue Line.
Since the state line actually
cuts thru town (& a few buildings as well) the Business Association paints & maintains a blue line
representing the state line throughout our community so that visitors can see & know where the line
runs & be aware of which state a particular business or landmark is located in.
Once or twice
a year the TriCities Business Association gets together to repaint & repair the Blue Line so that
many more children (& a few of us who are still kids at heart) can enjoy having their picture taken
standing with one foot in each state.

Copper Basin Residents, young and old are invited to help throw the switch to 'Light Up the Basin'
for the holiday season. Local communities coordinate their Christmas Lighting Ceremonies in a single
evening of celebration the night before the annual Kiwanis Christmas Parade. The evening begins at
6 pm, at the McCaysville Branch of United Community Bank, where Mayor Buddy Finch helps light
McCaysville's official Christmas Tree. A procession of Christmas carolers then parades by candlelight to
the Copperhill Branch of the BB&T Bank, for another tree lighting ceremony.
Participants then make their way to Copperhill City Hall, to help Mayor Herb Hood light Copperhill's

Steel Bridge. Following the tree lightings, celebrants warm up with free hot chocolate and cookies,
at Rivers Crossing Mall. Santa Claus will pay a special visit at 6:30 pm, to listen
